What Information Do We Collect?
When you visit our Web site, you may provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly and actively choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis (“Active Information”) and Web site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our Web site (“Passive Information”).
Passive Information
Similar to other Web sites, our Web site utilizes a standard technology called “cookies” (see explanation below, “What Are Cookies?”) as well as Web server logs to collect information about how our Web site is used. Information gathered through cookies and Web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, and time spent at our Web site. This information is collected on an aggregate basis. None of this information is associated with you as an individual. We also collect information about a user’s progression through the online educational games provided on our Web site. Since the user is associated with a member name when playing the games, the information collected regarding a user’s progression through the games will be associated with you as an individual.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are a feature of Web browser software that allows Web servers to recognize the computer used to access a Web site. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s Web browser on the user’s hard drive. Cookies can remember what information a user accesses on one Web page to simplify subsequent interactions with that Web site by the same user or to use the information to streamline the user’s transactions on related Web pages. This makes it easier for a user to move from Web page to Web page and complete commercial transactions over the Internet. Cookies should make your online experience easier and more personalized.
Use of Passive Information
We use Web site browser software tools such as cookies and Web server logs to gather information about our Web site users’ browsing activities, in order to constantly improve our Web site and better serve you. This information assists us to design and arrange our Web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our Web site and goods and services to better meet the needs of our users. Cookies help us collect important business and technical statistics. The information in the cookies lets us trace the paths followed by users to our Web site as they move from one page to another. Web server logs allow us to count how many people visit our Web site and evaluate our Web site’s visitor capacity. We may use the information collected on a user’s progression through the online educational games for research purposes to study how users are learning science.

What About Children’s Privacy?
Children’s privacy on the Internet is governed by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA provides rules that apply to the online collection of personal information from children under the age of 13. When a child under the age of 18 attempts to register as a member of our Web site, we obtain prior verifiable parental or guardian consent for the collection, use, and/or disclosure of personally-identifiable information from the child. We do not ask a child under the age of 13 for more personal information, as a condition of participation, than is reasonably necessary to participate in a given activity. The following information will be collected from a child under the age of 18 during the initial registration process: (1) child’s account name (which we suggest be different from the child’s name), (2) password, (3) identity question (i.e., pet’s name), (4) age, and (5) parent/guardian’s email address. We use this information to send the parent/guardian a message that can be used to activate the member account, to notify the parent about our privacy practices, to send the parent/guardian communications about the child’s account or about features of the Web site, and for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Parents may review, delete, and modify their children’s personally identifiable information provided on our Web site. To do any of the following, please send an email to policy@twisteducation.com for instructions: (a) access the personally identifiable information that our Web site has collected from your child, (b) correct errors in such information, (c) request to have the information deleted, or (d) request that we no longer collect and maintain such information.

We may offer blogs, message boards and chat rooms on our Web site. Please be aware that anyone may read your posting on a blog, message board or in a chat room. Also, any information which you decide to submit to be posted to a blog, message board or in a chat room, including information about your account, will be disclosed and available to all users of that blog, message board or chat room, and is no longer private. We cannot guarantee the security of such information that you disclose or communicate online in public areas such as blogs, message boards and chat rooms, and you do so at your own risk. We reserve the right to monitor the content of blogs, message boards and chat rooms.
